Bolton Wanderers loan round-up as Ronan Darcy scores Queen's Park stunner

Ronan Darcy opened his goalscoring account for Queen's Park over the weekend in his loan spell away from Bolton Wanderers with a stunning strike against Alloa Athletic.

The 21-year-old is spending the second half of the season on loan at the Spiders picking up experience and valuable minutes in men's football.

The Wanderers academy product spent the first half of the campaign on loan at Norwegian side Sogndal, playing nine times.

And Darcy scored a marvellous equaliser over the weekend against Alloa in a 1-1 draw, coming off the bench to net from at least 25 yards out to ensure a share of the spoils in the Scottish League One clash.

He said: "It was a battle. You could see that in the first half and the second half, but we spoke about it after that the only way teams are going to score past us is set plays and balls over the top and that's what happened and we need to work on it.

"But it shows again that the subs came on and we've got that fight until the end and I think as a team, that's what you need going into the final part of the season.

"We've got that fight and desire as a team.

"It's massive because we got a point out of it at the end. We would have liked three but it was a battle and we'll take a point as a team. We'll learn from it.

"We crack on from now and we focus on the rest of the season."

Darcy has now played seven times for Queen's Park and is one of several players away from Wanderers out on loan picking up minutes at clubs up and down the country.

Nathan Delfouneso has made four apperances so far on loan for Bradford City in League Two, but has been either an unused substitute or not part of the squad in their last four matches.

Liam Edwards was not part of Southport's squad for their loss on the road to Chorley over the weekend.

Matthew Alexander picked up an injury while playing for Runcorn Linnets in early February after heading out on loan there, while Jay Fitzmartin came off the bench in Stalybridge Celtic's 3-0 loss at home to Warrington Town.

Reiss Greenidge is spending the season out on loan at Barnet and scored in their last game, a 6-0 thrashing of Dover Athletic, his second goal in 16 games for the Bees this campaign.
