Bolton Wanderers confirm influential central defender has signed new contract with League Two club

Bolton Wanderers central defender Ricardo Almeida Santos has signed a new contract with the League Two club.

Santos, 25, joined Wanderers over the summer as part of a recruitment drive by new boss Ian Evatt.

He has gone on to establish himself as a first choice in the heart of defence for Wanderers and is having an incredibly impressive season.

He has turned out a total of 33 times in all competitions, including every game Wanderers have played in League Two this season.

Santos penned a two-year deal when he joined the Trotters last summer and work has been taking place of late to agree fresh terms.

And it has now been confirmed that Santos has put pen to a paper on a new deal which will keep him at the University of Bolton Stadium until the end of the 2022/23 campaign.

Santos come through the ranks at Dagenham & Redbridge and had a loan spell at Billericay Town before moving to Dover Athletic and then to Thurrock.

He joined Peterborough United in February 2014 and played 75 times in all competitions for Posh, before being sold to Barnet in 2017.

The Portuguese-born defender made the move to Wanderers last summer.
