Bol Bol says LeBron James was his favorite player growing up

LeBron James, even though he’s not the oldest player in the NBA, is widely seen now as the league’s elder statesmen. But even though he’s older than most players, he’s still highly regarded for his excellence even as he enters his 17th season but his impact on younger generations can already be seen today.

One of those players in the next generation that LeBron inspired is Denver Nuggets draft pick Bol Bol. Bol told Bryan Kalbrosky of Hoops Hype that LeBron was his favorite player growing up.

“Actually, LeBron was my favorite player growing up,” Bol said. “Kevin Durant is changing basketball with the way he plays. I’m a fan of Kristaps Porzingis. I also love Kyrie Irving. Those are the people I watch the most.”

As Bol mentioned, while LeBron was his first favorite player he has tried to incorporate moves of other NBA stars over the years. Although the Nuggets have high expectations next season, it doesn’t seem likely that Bol will face off against his idol this year.

After being invited to the Green Room at the draft, meaning the NBA expected him to go in the first round, Bol fell all the way to the late 2nd round. Bol suffered a broken foot that he suffered last season at Oregon after five games and he’s yet to sign a contract with the Nuggets.
