BOISE, Idaho_The Boise State football team set a program record with 818 yards of offense in a 62-7 victory over UConn on Saturday night at Albertsons Stadium.
The previous record was 742 set against Colorado State on Oct. 15, 2011.
In the first quarter, Boise State outgained UConn 247-38. Quarterback Brett Rypien was 9-for-14 for 170 yards and two touchdowns. UConn was 0-for-4 on third down.
The Broncos pulled ahead 31-0 in the second quarter on wide receiver John Hightower's second TD. The junior college transfer covered 122 yards on his two scoring plays.
Boise State outgained UConn 514-78 in the first half.
The Broncos topped the 50-point mark in the third quarter. It was the first time they scored that many points at home since a 55-0 win against Hawaii on Oct. 3, 2015.
