Body of woman recovered from the sea, police say

The body of a woman was recovered from the sea in Co Antrim last night, police have said.

It had been reported the RNLI and Coastguard Rescue had launched 'following a report of a missing swimmer in Browns Bay, Islandmagee'.

A spokesperson for the PSNI said: "The body of a woman was recovered from the sea by the Coastguard after she was reported missing at Browns Bay in Islandmagee on Thursday, August 6.

"A postmortem will be carried out in due course however the death is not being treated as suspicious at this time."

A spokesperson for the RNLI had said the Larne team was requested to launch both lifeboats, the all-weather lifeboat and the inshore lifeboat at 5.52pm following a report of a missing swimmer.

The Coastguard helicopter from Prestwick was also tasked.
