THE body of a Scottish woman has been found inside a suitcase which was dumped in an abandoned building in Greece.
The woman was found on July 18 by a homeless man in the district of Kypseli, in Athens.
The 38-year-old has been identified after Greek and American authorities worked together through Interpol. Her family have also been notified.
Detectives believe she arrived in Greece from the United States via Cyprus on June 29.
She is believed to have died between five and seven days before the discovery.
Greek authorities sent her fingerprints through Interpol to law enforcement agencies abroad after initial checks against available databases failed to identify her.
A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "We are aware of the death of Scottish woman in Athens and are liaising with authorities in Greece.
"Officers are providing support to her family in Scotland."
