Body of pensioner found who vanished after boarding train in Fife

A body has been found in the search for a pensioner who went missing in Fife.

Robert Brown, who was from North Shields, Northumbria, was last seen at the railway station in Kirkcaldy at around 10.15am on January 30.

The 72-year-old's body was discovered in Tweedmouth just over the English border after he was visiting family in Fife.

It's believed he boarded a Cross Country train heading towards Newcastle but never arrived.

A Police Scotland statement read: "The body of a man found in Tweedmouth on Sunday, 2 February, has been identified as Robert Brown, from North Shields, who was reported missing after getting on a train in Kirkcaldy, Fife, on Thursday, 30 January.

"His family have been informed and our thoughts are with them.

"The matter is being managed by Northumbria Police."
