Body of missing Scot found in Perth flat as police launch probe

A body found in a flat has been identified as a man reported missing from Perth.

William Stevenson, known as Wullie, was last seen in the Tulloch area of Perth on Thursday morning.

The 32-year-old, originally from Glasgow, had been visiting a friend in the area.

Officers from Police Scotland launched an investigation to trace William, who also went by the surname, McQuade.

Frantic loved ones took to social media citing his disappearance as 'out of character'.

On Wednesday, February 23, Tayside Police Division confirmed that a 32-year-old man was found dead on Tuesday evening.

The grim discovery was made in a flat on Scott Street.

Officers said that the man was identified as William whose family have been informed.

Enquiries into his tragic passing are at 'an early stage' but police said there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

A Tayside Police Division spokesperson said: "On the evening of Tuesday, February 22, a 32-year-old man was found dead within in a flat in Scott Street, Perth.

"The 32-year-old man has been identified as William Stevenson also known as McQuade.

"His family has been informed.

Enquiries into the death are at an early stage however there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

"A report will be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal."
