Body of man found after police called to street

The body of a man has been found after police were called to a street in Wigan.

Officers were called to reports of a body being discovered in Ravenswood Avenue, Winstanley, at about 8.05am on Thursday (February 18).

Emergency services attended and a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

His age has not been released at this stage.

Police say there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances surrounded his death.

A file is to be passed to the coroner.

Eyewitnesses reported seeing police, fire engines and an ambulance at the scene.

A section of woodland off Ravenswood Avenue was also reportedly taped off for more than two hours.
