Body of 16-year-old boy recovered from river in country park

The body of a 16-year-old boy has been recovered from the water at a park in Scotland.

A huge emergency service presence - including police, fire and rescue and ambulance services - raced to Pollok Country Park in Glasgow's south side shortly after 5pm.

Police have now confirmed the body of the teenager was recovered from White Cart Water, reports GlasgowLive.

They say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

Earlier, eyewitness reported seeing a police helicopter in the vicinity while locals described seeing a rescue boat searching the river.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Around 5.10pm on Tuesday, 30 June, 2020, police responded to a report of a concern for a person in the water at Pollok Country Park, Glasgow.

“Emergency services attended and the body of a 16-year-old boy was recovered.

“There are no apparent suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
