Body found in search for missing man on Isle of Arran

A body has been found on the Isle of Arran in the search for a missing man, police have confirmed tonight.

The discovery was made on the island's Lamlash area at around 2.30pm today.

While no formal identification has taken place, officers say that the Mariusz Robert Batyra has been informed of the development.

Police also confirmed there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

The 49-year-old had been missing on the Ayrshire island for more than a week.

Mariusz was seen at 7.40am on Thursday, June 29 in Shore Road, Lamlash opposite the Ship House stores.

A police spokesperson said: "The body of a man has been found in the Lamlash area on the Isle of Arran.

"He is yet to be formally identified. However, the family of Mariusz Robert Batyra, 49, who had been reported missing in the area has been made aware.

"The body was found shortly after 2.30pm on Friday, July 7.

"There are no suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal in due course."
