A body has been found in the search for missing Giffnock pensioner David Fletcher.
Police confirmed the tragic news this evening (Monday) after the body of a man was recovered from the River Clyde near the Glasgow Transport Museum on Sunday morning.
Officers say the man has been identified as 71-year-old David and his family have been made aware.
David was last seen in Glasgow city centre on December 9, sparking a police appeal for information on his whereabouts.
Police say there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
A statement issued this evening by the Greater Glasgow Police Division advised: "Police Scotland can confirm that the body of a man has been recovered from the River Clyde, at Pointhouse Place in Glasgow.
"Officers were called to the river, at the rear of the Transport Museum around 9.30am, on Sunday 2 January 2022.
"The deceased has been formally identified as David Fletcher, 71, who was last seen in Glasgow city centre on Thursday, 9 December, 2021. His family are aware.
"There are no suspicious circumstances, and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal."
