BMW crashes into KFC restaurant, injuring 12 people

  • A BMW sedan crashed into a KFC restaurant located within a Bangchak petrol station on Sukhumvit 62 in Bangkok on Saturday, causing extensive damage to the property and injuring at least 12 people.
  • The incident occurred about 7.50pm when the bronze-grey BMW smashed through the glass front of the restaurant.
  • At least 12 people sustained injuries, including customers, delivery riders, KFC staff, and the BMW driver, all of whom were taken to hospital, but none were reported to be in a serious condition.
  • Investigators believe the car, which had entered the petrol station to refuel, suddenly accelerated while in a queue, striking a cream-coloured Toyota Camry before losing control and ploughing into the KFC.
  • Police are currently questioning the driver and witnesses, as well as reviewing surveillance footage, to determine the precise cause of the crash.
