Gruesome trail of blood where woman slashed in face and man stabbed

A pool of blood at the scene of a shows the brutality of the Liverpool city centre attack.

Two people were taken to hospital after the attack on a street off Brownlow Hill on Tuesday evening.

A large area around the scene of the incident, which detectives , was cordoned off in the aftermath.

This morning May Street is open to the public but the pavement remains covered in blood, highlighting the severity of the attack.

Emergency services were called to the street just after 7.50pm following reports of an assault.

Merseyside Police said a 35-year-old man to her cheek.

Both victims were taken to hospital and said to have been in a stable condition on Tuesday night.

The offender is believed to have fled the scene in a white car in the direction of Clarence Street.

Cordons were put in place by police at both ends of May Street and on Mount Pleasant, while forensics officers examined the scene.

Appealing for information, Detective Inspector Simon Hurst said: " , and we want anyone who may have information, however small, to come forward.

"We are keen to speak to any members of the public or drivers who were in the vicinity of May Street, Brownlow Hill, Mount Pleasant or Clarence Street at about 7.50pm on Tuesday.

"They may have witnessed this incident, or the offender acting suspiciously , and could hold vital information that would bring the perpetrator of this vicious attack to justice.

"I would urge drivers who were driving in that area at that time to check any dashcam footage they have of the man or white car we believe were involved in this attack, and get in touch.”
