Bloke reunited with ID lost in Magaluf thanks to sweet letter from 'Kirsty in Scotland'

A holidaymaker who lost his ID 1,200 miles away from home has shared his relief to be reunited with his driving licence - after a kind stranger went out of her way to return it to him.

Dan Knight, 21, lost his provisional driving licence during a holiday with friends in Magaluf last month.

But the History and Politics student, who thought he'd never see his ID again, had another surprise coming.

Returning home to Sheffield, he was astonished to find it enclosed in a letter from "Kirsty in Scotland".

As the Daily Record reports, Dan then took to social media, keen to thank the Good Samaritan and tell her she'd restored his faith in humanity.

Although Kirsty had not been tracked down at the time of writing, it transpired she went to great effort to return the ID to its owner.

Her letter explained: "I found this outside the Martinique Hotel in Magaluf on Tuesday. I checked with the hotel and you weren't staying there. Checked social media but couldn't find you. So I brought it home to Scotland to send to you when I got home on Wednesday. I hope this finds you! Kirsty."

Thankfully, the letter reached its destination. Dan told the Record: "I returned home and it arrived a few days later.

"I couldn't stop grinning when I read it. It was sent with a first-class stamp as well! It's such a nice gesture.

"No one knows who she is and I'm desperate to say thank you properly. Kirsty, wherever you are, you are the soundest girl in the world."

Dan posted about the sweet gesture on Twitter, and his tweet has received over 14,000 likes. He added: "These days you never expect someone to go out of their way to do something for a stranger. It has restored my faith in humanity."
