Bleeding man was found 'four miles' from where he was shot as police give update

A man who was shot in both his legs was found nearly four miles from the place he was attacked.

The man in his 30s was found with gunshot wounds on Ashover Avenue, Dovecot on Sunday, January 10, at 8.20pm by armed police.

However the victim is believed to have been attacked and shot in the area of Queens Drive and Lowerson Road, Clubmoor, around 3.8 miles from where he was found.

It is not yet clear how he came to be found so far from the scene of the shooting and police are still investigating the attack.

Yesterday the ECHO reported that the man was battling serious injuries in hospital.

Merseyside police confirmed today that the victim remains in hospital. There haven’t been any arrests at this time and no further updates.

Officers remain carrying out initial enquiries, including house-to-house, forensics and CCTV to establish the circumstances.

At the scene yesterday one sickened neighbour, who has lived in the street for four years, said she initially mistook the shooting for something on TV before the awful reality was confirmed.

She told the ECHO: "I heard two gunshots but thought it was the telly. Minutes later I saw lights flashing everywhere from emergency vehicles."

Detective Chief Inspector Rachel Wilson said: "In this very early stage of the investigation, we’re keen to speak to anyone who was in either area at the time and saw this incident, or anything suspicious.

"Your information, CCTV, dashcam or other footage might prove vital as we find out exactly what happened.

"Firearms incidents have decreased in recent months, and we’re determined to keep reducing them for all of those communities affected.

"Tell us what you know and we’ll take positive action to remove those responsible and their weapon from the streets."
