Blaze near high school sees large area of Denny, Falkirk, closed off

Fire crews are tackling a blaze sparked next to a high school.

The fire has ripped through the factory of a former post box firm in Denny, Falkirk .

Emergency services raced to Machan Engineering on Broad Street at around 4.25pm.

Plumes of smoke could be seen for miles around as the blaze raged on.

Several roads were closed as fire crews fought to put out the blaze.

There are currently no reports of any injuries.

Locals are being warned to stay away from the area due to the amount of smoke.

Yesterday evening a spokesperson from Forth Valley Police Division said: "Along with the Scottish Fire and Rescue service, we remain in attendance at a large building fire on Broad Street, Denny.

"The fire was reported to emergency services about 4.25pm.

"Road closures are currently in place with the A883 Broad Street currently closed between Denny Cross and Denny High school.

"These will be in place for some time.

"There are currently no reports of any injuries.

"Due to the volume of smoke from the fire we would advise local residents to remain away from the area and keep doors and windows closed.

"We will provide further updates when available."
