Blackpool Illuminations 2019 switch on line up announced with Busted headlining

The line up for this year's Blackpool Illuminations switch-on has been confirmed with Busted headlining.

Charlie Simpson, Matt Willis and James Bourne, who reformed in 2015, will treat fans to a night of noughties nostalgia as well as tracks from new album Half Way There at Tower Festival Headland on Friday August 30.

Joining them on the bill will be chart-topping drum and bass duo Sigma and singer-songwriter Nina Nesbitt.

There'll also be performances from dance group Diversity, who found fame when they won Britain's Got Talent in 2009, and Club MTV DJs R3wire and Varski.

“We are delighted to be able to welcome one of the great names in British pop to the Switch-On stage," a spokesperson for tourism organisation VisitBlackpool said.

“With so much talent already confirmed, it promises to be another night to remember.”

The celebration will start with a Blackpool Introduces showcase, featuring up and coming talent from across the Fylde Coast, before the main show and switch-on.

An hour-long party under the lights will cap off the festivities.

More artists, including the celebrity who will pull the switch to launch the 2019 Illuminations season, will be announced in the weeks ahead.

Billed as the greatest free light show on earth, the illuminations stretch for six miles along the promenade and will be on every night from August 30 to November 3.

Admission to the switch on show is free to the winners of 20,000 wristbands, which will be given away in a ballot.

Registration is open now and closes on Monday July 29. The allocation is restricted to four per household.
