Charlie Brooker fears the world is getting a little too much like his hit dystopian series Black Mirror.
The writer and director said of the comparison: “It’s flattering on a professional level, but terrifying on an oh-s**t-the-world-is-dreadful level.”
One of the most disturbing moments in lockdown for Charlie his wife Konnie Huq was when they found their youngest son Huxley, who is six years old, playing “a game called Vacation Simulator on a VR headset”.
Charlie’s unease was no doubt worsened when he hosted Antiviral Wipe, a special edition of his old show Screenwipe, on BBC2 last night.
He appeared on Newsnight on Wednesday where he spoke to presenter Emily Maitlis.

The BBC presenter asked Charlie if he's been watching more of the news amid the pandemic.
He revealed: "Well yes and no," before adding: "For the first couple of weeks of this I was sort of glued to the news, reading everything I could, radio was constantly on and…
"It's like eating fruit, isn't it? If you watch a lot of the news, it's good for you up to a point, but then it gives you the s***s. You have to limit it, you have to eat it in small portions."

Charlie also spoke about any scripts he had written about pandemics that have been ruined due to the crisis.
He joked: "Well, now that would be a first world problem.
"It's certainly weird. And it's the sort of thing I have long worried about happening and now its happened so in that respect not a script and more it's like the world has reached into my head and stolen some of my nightmare fuel that's probably kept me awake for years."
