It was a bittersweet moment for a North East family when twins Amar and Arjun Purewal walked out at Wembley Stadium - on opposing sides.
The 31-year-olds, from Sunderland, were the first British South Asian brothers to face each other in a cup final at the stadium when Hebburn Town played Consett AFC in the FA Vase final on Monday.
Arjun, captain of Consett, faced Amar, of Hebburn Town, in an exciting match, which was won by Hebburn. The final result was Consett 2 Hebburn 3.
Covid restrictions meant no fans were allowed to go to Wembley Stadium, so their family members watched the match from their homes.
Kelly Purewal, the twins' mum, 63, of Ryhope, said: "It was an absolutely amazing game. Amar and Arjun were playing for opposing sides and they made history at the final. Both of them played really well.
"I was watching the game from home. I was a bit nervous but they are both proper professionals so they were always going to play their hardest.
"And they both played tremendously. It was a brilliant match. I'm really happy for Amar, I'm so pleased for him.
"But Arjun was so brilliant. I could not fault him and I'm totally gutted for him. He will be devastated as will his whole team. It was very emotional."
This was Hebburn Town's first Wembley final in the club's 109-year history.
The Mayor of South Tyneside, Coun Norman Dick, said: "The mayoress and I would like to congratulate Hebburn Town FC on winning the FA Vase final at Wembley – what a remarkable achievement.

"I'm sure the team are absolutely delighted with their victory, as are the thousands of supporters who have cheered them on back home in South Tyneside.
"Although the match had to be played behind closed doors, fans came together to show their support by painting the town black and yellow, the team’s club colours, in the run up to the match and it’s clear that this encouragement really paid off.
"Congratulations Hebburn Town FC – you’ve certainly made the borough proud."
