Billy Gilmour to Rangers loan prospect evaluated as Chelsea recall option looms amid Norwich nightmare

Norwich outcast Billy Gilmour is unlikely to return to Rangers because he isn't guaranteed game time, claims Gordon Dalziel.

Chelsea have been left frustrated that the 20-year-old hasn’t played for the Premier League ’s bottom side in over a month.

Despite being on course for one of the lowest English top flight points tallies ever, Norwich boss Daniel Farke has left the Scotland star on the fringes of the squad.

Stamford Bridge head coach Tomas Tuchel has already spoken to the Norwich boss ahead of a January evaluation of the deal.

It has caused some fans and pundits to make a pitch for a return to Rangers, who he left to join the European Champions during his academy days.

However, former Ibrox star Dalziel doesn't believe the Scottish Premiership is a viable option.

He told Clyde 1 SuperScoreboard that there will a host of clubs south of the border lining up to take the playmaker on loan.

He adds that he would need to be certain of minutes - which Steven Gerrard can't offer him.

Following a pitch form a caller over a move to Govan, Gordon Duncan posed that it would depend on where Rangers stood in the table in January if a move and game time could be offered.

Dalziel said: "Yeah that is going to be important.

"That will be taken into consideration, (because of) the importance of where he goes.

"As much as Billy Gilmour is a fantastic talent, you can't just put him out and say 'it doesn't matter how he plays, we need game time'.

"Managers come under pressure, of course they do.

"But what they have to do is find a club that fits his style and the way he plays well.

"I'm not saying change your full style around Billy Gimlour, I'm saying put Billy Gilmour into a style that suits him and get him the right club.

"I think he needs games. Whether he comes to Scotland or not; I don't think he will because I think there are plenty of clubs in England will take him."
