Bills Mafia Donates $82k To Ravens' Mark Andrews Charity

The Buffalo Bills were on the losing side of many big games over the years.  That’s why the Bills Mafia (as the fanbase is called)is one of the more empathetic fanbases in the NFL.

Here is an example of their generosity.  Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews did not have a good game against the Bills. He is reportedly receiving death threats because of it.

How is Bills Mafia helping?  A GoFundMe account has been set up for Andrews’ charity for a form of juvenile diabetes called Breakthrough T1D.  The original goal was for Bills fans to contribute $5,000.

Over $82,000 has been raised.  WTA tennis star Jessica Pegula, daughter of Bills’ owners Terry and Kim Pegula, tweeted the link along with many others.

Bills Mafia is making lemonade out of lemons. Unfortunately, this is becoming a normal behavior.  Whether it is fans who bet on the games or fans who are just angry at the outcome, lashing out and threatening an athlete are despicable acts.

Bad Fan Behavior Is Happening In All Sports

It is not just a problem in football. Jessica Pegula’s sport of choice, professional tennis, has been plagued by this behavior. At the Australian Open, Australian player Alex de Minaur was berated online for his loss to World No. 1 and defending champion Jannik Sinner.

De Minaur clapped back with a response similar to something fans heard from Coco Gauff after her loss to Paula Badosa.  It is the recognition that the average fan does not have the skills, knowledge, or wherewithal to be a professional athlete.

Kudos to the Buffalo Bills fans for being an example of class and sportsmanship.  Kudos also to Alex de Minaur, Coco Gauff, and any other athlete who defends him or herself in a classy and truthful manner against these unnecessary attacks.
