Bill Simmons Pitches Warriors Trade to Keep Dynasty Alive

The Warriors’ slow start to the 2023–24 season could eventually compel management to reshape the roster, a scenario The Ringer’s Bill Simmons believes should involve a key piece of the team’s starting lineup, should it come to pass.

Currently 10th in the Western Conference, the Warriors (9–10) have, once again, relied heavily on Stephen Curry, though the results have been mixed with several players, including the superstar’s fellow Big 3 mates Klay Thompson and Draymond Green, struggling early on.

As questions begin to build around the Golden State dynasty, Simmons shared another hot NBA take on Friday by detailing a seismic trade he feels the Warriors should explore. The terms? Dealing forwards Andrew Wiggins and Jonathan Kuminga up north for star Raptors forward Pascal Siakam, whom they know all too well from their battle in the 2019 NBA finals.

“Who says no?” Simmons asked. “… It’s just a trade that makes sense in a whole bunch of different ways.”

With the Raptors (9–10, 11th in East) also in a hole, Simmons explained that, in his eyes, the need for a fresh start has become apparent for all three players, but especially Wiggins, a Toronto native who could benefit from playing in his home country, and third-year pro Kuminga.

Although Simmons’s trade idea will likely remain just that, it stands to wonder whether either struggling, recent NBA champion will look to shake things up if their skids continue. And, in the event that occurs, it’ll be fascinating to see if the search for answers ultimately leads the former NBA finals foes to look to each other for a resolution.
