Bill Callahan smartly weaves through the latest batch of Trent Williams questions

Another week, another loss for the Washington Redskins, now under the guidance of interim head coach Bill Callahan.

And for Callahan, another batch of questions about left tackle Trent Williams, whose holdout persists.

According to Craig Hoffman of 106.7 The Fan, Callahan said “I’ve got a great rapport with Trent, but I really don’t much about that situation.”

He stressed the whole situation as being above his pay grade too, with it “completely out of my control,” per JP Finlay of NBC Sports.

Where Callahan could be stumbling into problems with his comments, he’s instead perfectly walking the company line — as well as one that wouldn’t seem to irritate Williams or his camp, either.

A new report tabs Williams’ return date as before Week 10, but whether that actually means he’ll take the field is hard to say. So is whether the team’s apparent refusal to trade him will change before Tuesday’s deadline.
