Bikers overtake cars while pulling wheelies on Mumbles seafront

Bikers have been caught on camera overtaking a car while pulling wheelies on a road in Mumbles.

The footage was captured on CCTV outside The Mermaid restaurant in Mumbles Road at around 2:30pm on Wednesday, June 24.

The area around Mumbles has seen a marked increase in the amount of traffic lately as people return to Wales' beaches during the heat wave this week.

Temperatures have hit 30 degrees and plenty of people have been out enjoying the sunshine in Swansea Bay.

Simon Paine, owner of The Mermaid, said: "There are close shaves down here all the time. The car they overtook yesterday, that you can see in the video, pulled over just after they went past - they must have been in shock.

"It is constant down here, to be honest. It goes on every time we get nice weather but it is worse at the moment.

"It won't be long before someone gets seriously hurt."

Mr Paine added that he has noticed the bikers "have a clear sight right down to Verdi's [restaurant]" from his restaurant and they "just floor it."

He said that he spots the same group of bikers seen in the video "all the time".

Mr Paine was in his restaurant on Wednesday afternoon preparing for it to reopen when he gets the go-ahead from the Welsh Government.

"It will be nice to take some money again, that's for sure," he said.

A spokeswoman for South Wales Police said that anyone who has concerns about dangerous driving should contact them and share any video or pictures they have.
