Bihar: Criminals shot at two people during rush hour in Patna

PATNA: Criminals on Saturday evening shot at two people in Jyotish Path locality under Ramkrsihna Nagar police station. The incident occurred during the rush hour and both the victims, a male and a female, were passersby and got injured in the hand and leg respectively.

Locals said the criminals were firing and going, when the two people who were on the way got hurt. The incident occurred at a time when senior superintendent of police Manavjeet Singh Dhillon was holding a meeting on law and order with the cops of the Patna district.

The incident occurred around 6pm and both the victims were said to be out of danger. Though the exact reason behind such firing in the public place was not clear, few locals said it was the handiwork of local criminals who are into drugs. Even a dispute over the land is under investigation. Another local Sunny Yadav said he was attacked by the same people on January 26 and the case had been lodged in Kankarbagh police station. He added the attack on Saturday was a threat to take back the case.

However, Ramkrishna Nagar sub-inspector Shambhunath Singh said the investigation was going on and the culprits were yet to be identified. He added prima facie it did not appear the firing was for vendetta, rather it seemed it was the fight for dominance.
