Big rise in coronavirus cases in all four areas across Bristol region

A total of 35 new coronavirus cases were confirmed in all four areas across the Bristol area over the past 24 hours.

Bristol recorded 15 further cases today (Thursday), according to the latest figures released by Public Health England.

This brings our city's total to 1,526.

In North Somerset seven more were recorded, taking the district's total up to 961.

While ten more patients tested positive for the virus in South Gloucestershire, which now has 852.

Bath and North East Somerset reported three more cases, the total there is 417.

UK-wide there were 1,735 new cases were confirmed today, bringing the nation's total to 340,411.

Covid deaths

Neither of Bristol's hospital trusts have recorded a new death over the last 24 hours.

Southmead Hospital reported a coronavirus-related death on Tuesday August 25, which was the first in the city for two months.

Nationally, 13 further Covid-related deaths were recorded today, bringing the UK's total to 41,527.
