Big Hearts trousers, Celtic v Rangers and a multiplying spider in the week on Twitter

Hearts fans were eager to hear what new boss Robbie Neilson had to say.

A popular player now returning to the club as manager ahead of a vital season in the Championship, Neilson's words were likely to be dissected in detail.

This, however, is Scottish football. And Scottish football being Scottish football, the message got drowned out by the new Hearts manager's trousers.

If that's whetted your appetite, keep reading to see some more highlights from the last seven days of Scottish Football Twitter.

BADGE MODERNISATION

Rangers got themselves a new badge which, as a lot of people pointed out, looks quite a bit like the old badge.

The club's official Twitter account shared an array of images in which the new badge was projected onto Glaswegian landmarks.

They opted for the caption "Glasgow is blue", which is certainly an interesting claim from the 2015/16 Scottish Championship winners.

Celtic, completely by coincidence, promoted their link-up with Adidas the following day by sharing pictures of Glaswegian landmarks with the caption "This is our city. These are our streets".

In case anyone was wondering whether Rangers are ready for this season, the club also shared pictures of players such as Alfredo Morelos and James Tavernier projected alongside the messages "MORELOS IS READY" and "TAVERNIER IS READY".

Tavernier's readiness could probably have gone without saying, much like his programme notes before the 1-0 defeat at Ibrox against Hamilton Accies.

It's been five years, but Glasgow Girls & Women FC might not be entirely over it.
