Bid to identify men after 'distressing' incident in Leith where man was hurt by knife

Images of two men have been released by police probing a "distressing" attempted robbery and assault in Leith.

A man was hurt by a knife in the incident, which happened on Henderson Street at around 8pm on Monday, March 18.

Officers say that the two men pictured may be able to assist with their investigation, and anyone who recognises them is urged to come forward.

One of the men is said to be in his 30s, between 5ft 8ins and 5ft 10ins tall and of skinny build with short dark hair. He was wearing a white pullover hooded top, dark trousers and trainers.

The other man is also described as being in his 30s with a skinny to medium build. He was wearing a red hooded top, dark jacket, light coloured scarf and a woolly hat with a bobble on top.

Detective constable Sean McGarvey from Gayfield CID said: "This was a distressing incident for the victim, and we are keen to trace those responsible.

"We're asking for anyone who may recognise the men pictured to contact police immediately.

"In addition anyone with any further information relevant to this investigation is also urged to get in touch."
