BHOPAL: A 22-year-old married woman filed a complaint on charges of gangrape, assault and criminal intimidation against her two nephews, both in their twenties, and their mother with Awadhpuri police on Friday. Acting on her complaint, police registered a case and started investigations.
The woman, along with her four-year-old daughter, had come to Bhopal from Bina in July to complete the bail formalities of a relative, who was lodged in jail in a rape case registered against him at Bajaria police station. She stayed at the house of the accused woman in Awadhpuri area as she had assured to help her in legal formalities.
SHO Awadhpuri Vijay Tripathi said that the survivor in her complaint stated that she resides in Bina with her elder brother while her husband resides in Hathras. She stated in her complaint that her sister resides in Bhopal with her husband in Bajaria area. Her sister’s husband was booked on charges of rape by Bajaria police and was sent to jail.
SHO Tripathi said that the survivor stated that the accused woman, 50, was married to her brother in the past but now they were divorced. The accused woman resides with her two sons in Awadhpuri area. The accused called her to Bhopal in July this year saying that she would help her in completing bail formalities of her brother-inlaw.
She came to Bhopal with her daughter and stayed at the accused’s flat. On July 18, the accused’s elder son, 24, raped her. When she protested, he threatened her of dire consequences. Next day, his younger brother, 20, also raped her. When she mustered courage and narrated the incident to the accused woman, the latter threatened to kill the survivor’s daughter. Since July, the accused repeatedly raped the woman and two days back they left her at Bhopal railway station.
SHO Tripathi said that the survivor’s brother-in-law was released from jail during this period. She called him for help and approached Awadhpuri police along with him to lodge a complaint against the accused on Friday. Acting on her complaint, police have registered a case and further investigations were on.
