BGT Scot Cammy Barnes tells Lorraine Kelly Tom Walker was 'like a big brother to him'

Britain's Got Talent contestant Cammy Barnes appeared on Lorraine on Monday and praised Scots star Tom Walker.

The Scot - who blew judges away at the weekend as he took to the stage with his guitar - admitted to the TV personality that he had kept his audition hush-hush from his family and friends.

Talking about his experience on the show he told Lorraine: "It was intense, it was a pretty strange, amazing beautiful day."

Speaking about his decision to keep his audition a secret from his loved ones, the 32-year-old from Methil, Fife said: "I figured if I went on my own and I never got through and I was terrible, I would take my family out for a meal that night and they'd never see it."

However, luckily for the dad, he blew judges away as he took to the stage, singing Olivia Rodrigo’s Drivers Licence.

After his performance on tonight’s show, Simon Cowell said: “I think it was a good choice of song, I always like it when someone puts a twist on someone else’s song.”

Amanda Holden told him: “It was authentic and real and I know how much it means to you and for all of those reasons it made for a beautiful version.”

The Fife born singer blew judges away on Friday's Britain's Got Talent (STV)

Alesha Dixon commented: “You do have the most beautiful tone and i love that raspiness, I think you’re a great guy, I love your personality and I hope something comes from this.”

And new judge Bruno Tonioli shared: “You really sing with your heart and the second time when you let it go a little bit and didn’t try too hard, it became even more real.”

Speaking to Lorraine, the barber - who owns Barney's Barber Shop - revealed everything he does is for his daughter, who was a newborn at the time of his audition.

"Everything's about Bonnie, you want to give her everything - I even want to go to Disney Land now."

Referring to his Scottish accent, which the BGT contestant sings in he said: "I've tried to sing in an American accent but I sound totally silly."

He went on to praise Scots singer Tom Walker, who he previously toured with.

Lorraine said: "You have supported Tom Walker before on tour, I can understand that and there are similarities in what you're singing about."

Cammy added: "He's a good guy, he gave me some cool opportunities. He's like my big brother, and every now and then I send him music as well and he always gives me honest feedback. He's a really good egg."

He quipped: "I can only write sad songs, but now I'm feeling really happy I'm going to have to think about writing happy songs.

Speaking about the judge's positive reaction to his performance, he said: "It was a relief, it was like the stamp of approval essentially. I feel like over the years I've really been trying to do good things as a musician, and I've finally got something and now I'm thinking, maybe I should keep doing this.

"If I get through I've already planned the songs I'm going to do, probably not allowed to say- but I hope it's good."

The Scottish star already has over 10,000 followers on Instagram and appears to be used to playing to large crowds.

His Instagram account shows he has performed in the middle of the pitch at Edinburgh’s Murrayfield Stadium.

He has also played numerous other big concerts in the past and last year he had over 775,000 streams on Spotify with a whopping 131,000 listeners.
