The Spaceman is a Megabonk character meant for the hardcore players, and building him up can be a true challenge.
While 18 out of 20 characters in the game have specific unlock conditions, Spaceman has one of the hardest ones. His default kit is decent, but he offers something unique if you master him. Let's look at unlocking him before discussing a perfect build for the Spaceman.

How to get Spaceman in Megabonk
There are two requirements for adding Spaceman to your roster. The first task is to unlock the Black Hole weapon, his signature tool. You'll need to take the Knockback tome to level 10 to unlock the weapon. Try to add the tome on your run, and then take it past level 10 with upgrades.
You'll also have to complete six challenges to unlock Spaceman. These can be any six challenges of your liking. If you want to get this done quickly, go for tier one challenges, which are simple in nature.
You can purchase Spaceman for 21 Silver once you have completed both tasks.
Best Megabonk Spaceman build
Let's look at the key components of getting a good Spaceman build.
Type | Best Choices | Good Choices |
---|---|---|
Weapons | Black Hole (primary) Bananarang Bone Lightning Staff |
Aura Revolver |
Tomes | Projectile Speed Size Agility Damage |
Luck Quantity Cooldown |
Items | Gym Sauce Overpowered Lamp Moldy Cheese |
Turbo Socks Clover Lightning Orb |
The Black Hole weapon might be fun, but hard to master. Its aiming system is pretty difficult to understand, and it sucks enemies inside it. This is highly useful against swarms, but struggles against solo enemies. The passive, Quantum XP Theory, results in Spaceman gaining 1.5% XP gain per level.
Spaceman has a strong leveling system, so you can opt out of weapons like Aura. Instead, go with a full projectile-based lineup in Bone and Bananarang. For tomes, having Projectile Speed and Size are a must. These tomes will directly benefit Black Hole and increase its damage.

Spaceman can float using moon gravity if you're playing in the Forest. However, his base movement is quite slow, and he can get caught by enemies. Adding Agility should be considered a priority before you start the late-game phase.
I didn't find too many items that felt like must-haves with Spaceman. Gym Sauce is a stable choice with +10% damage, while Overpowered Lamp provides extra proc. chance with every hit. Adding Moldy Cheese won't be a bad idea if you opt for a projectile-based build.
The Spaceman is different from other characters, and so is the Black Hole weapon. Like all characters, he can do well once you build him properly. The lack of pace, though, especially at the start, can sometimes feel stiff. You should be able to bypass most of his weaknesses with my build and do well at higher-tier maps.
Plenty of other Megabonk characters have terrific builds to dominate the current meta and leaderboards.
