Best pictures as Kilmarnock beat St Johnstone in Scottish Premiership clash

Angelo Alessio heaped praise on Kilmarnock’s supporters after they backed his side during a 1-0 win away to St Johnstone.

Killie put the McDiarmid Park side to the sword thanks to a first-half Stephen O’Donnell strike, and the Italian boss reckons the fans and team “deserved” the win.

He said: “I want to thank the supporters, it was important for our team and everyone at the club.

“They wanted this result, and I think we deserved it.

“The team was compact and strong, we scored from a good counter-attack.”

He added: “The last two games before this and in training sessions I saw the players work very hard.

“I think this result was a reward for them, they wanted this win.”

Alessio was quick to bat off press questions about Greg Taylor after the match, focusing only on his side’s impressive performance.

He said: “I want to only speak about our performance.

“Our performance today was very important for our mood, for everyone here, me, and above all the team.”
