EMPULSE is a shooter where staying on the move is the main way to enjoy all the movement features and also win. Fighting while grappling or wall-running can be tricky, and you need to tailor your loadout, including Perks and weapons.
Here’s everything you need to know about Perks in EMPULSE, and which ones are best for each slot.
Best Perks for each slot in EMPULSE
In EMPULSE, you can equip up to three Perks per loadout in the Loadouts menu, similar to Call of Duty. While the first two Perk slots offer a mix of different effects, the third slot is centered entirely around mechs. Perks lean into a specific playstyle, but there are a few universal picks.
Here are the best Perks to run in EMPULSE:
| Slot | Perk | Rep Level | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Perk one | Kill Runner | 4 | Kills grant a speed boost and restore health. |
| Perk two | Kill Refresh | 28 | Kills and assists reduce Grapple and P.A.I.N.T. Bomb cooldowns and reload part of your weapon’s magazine. |
| Perk three | Mech Healer | 19 | Restores mech health when you eliminate an enemy while piloting a mech. |
Kill Runner is the first perk you unlock in EMPULSE at level four, and it’s one of the best to run in the first slot. An extra 20 health can be a deciding factor if you get to keep going after securing a kill. Other options, like Grapple Charger, are decent, but aren’t as decisive.
The best Perk in the second slot is Kill Refresh, ensuring your Grapple and P.A.I.N.T. Bomb are up as much as possible to keep moving. Kills and assists also reload part of your weapon’s magazine. On weapons like the Modulator, it refills around 16 rounds. Alternatively, you can also pick up Flowstater to increase sprint speed and wall-run faster and farther.
The third slot is for mech Perks. Mechs act as power weapons in EMPULSE and can be a pain to deal with. However, they also don’t last long if a team decides to collectively attack it, which is why you want Mech Healer to get restore health on kills. The amount is small, so you could also go for Mech Tanker to increase survivability through better shields.
How to unlock Perks in EMPULSE
To unlock perks, increase your Rep Level by playing matches. There are 73 levels of rewards as of the open playtest, but you can unlock all the best Perks by reaching level 28. There are also Gigs in EMPULSE, which are a form of challenges, but those don’t seem to award XP. During increased XP events, like the open playtest, where XP gains are increased by 400 percent, it only takes a few hours to reach that level.
