Here at Tom's Guide, we track the most popular TV shows across all the best streaming services, and one of the easiest ways to see what people are watching is by taking a look at each platform's top 10 charts. This can be a great way to get some quick recommendations... but there's a catch.
As we always say, you can't always guarantee that what's trending on any streamer — Netflix included — is definitely worth adding to your watchlist. And that's precisely why we give you a weekly breakdown of the three Netflix top 10 shows that are actually worthy of your precious viewing time.
Please note: these picks are based on the Netflix U.S. top 10 as of Thursday, May 7, after a mid-week update. With that quick bit of housekeeping out of the way, you can find my three trending Netflix picks (and a full breakdown of the top 10) below.

'Lord of the Flies'
After it premiered on the BBC across the pond earlier this year, Jack Thorne's ("Adolescence" co-creator) new adaptation of William Golding's novel "Lord of the Flies" has come to Netflix.
If you don't know the story, "Lord of the Flies" is a survival drama about a group of schoolboys who end up stranded on a tropical island. With no adults around, they organize themselves into a group in order to reestablish some semblance of civility... but when another boy becomes more interested in vying for leadership and hunting, he starts to draw some of the boys away from that group and towards tragedy...

'Man on Fire'
Looking to liven up your viewing this month? You might want to check out Netflix's intense new thriller "Man on Fire," which has become the streamer's top watch in the week since it's debut.
This high-octane new series tells the story of John Creasy (played by "Wonder Man" star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II). Creasy was once a skilled Special Forces Mercenary known for escaping even the most deadly situations... but now he's a man haunted by his past. He sets off on a path to try to overcome his demons, but he finds himself being pulled back into the fray and forced to fight harder than he ever has.

'Running Point' season 2
Kate Hudson's workplace comedy "Running Point" won over Netflix subscribers last year upon its debut, and the sophomore season continued that trend, as the show's consistently been one of the most popular shows on Netflix since its return last month.
If you're yet to check it out, the series revolves around Isla Gordon (Hudson), a former party girl who finds herself appointed President of the LA Waves basketball franchise when her brother's forced to step down. After proving herself worthy of her new position in season 1, Isla faces even bigger challenges. For starters, Cam (Justin Theroux) is back and quietly making moves to reclaim his seat from his sister.
