The best mutual funds are vital to help investors meet their long-term goals. They provide diversification and can mitigate risk and volatility. They are accessible. And, with the right managers, they provide long-term growth that does more than just beat inflation. So, which fund companies and funds have the best track record?
Meet IBD's Funds of the Decade. This new special report mines the benchmark-beating records of the winning fund companies in IBD's 10th annual Best Mutual Funds Awards special report to spotlight 20 companies with 10 or more awards.
Each award-winning fund had to outperform its benchmark for the past one, three, five and 10 years. This demonstrates its ability to outperform in both the short term and long haul across bull and bear markets.
Topping the Funds of the Decade list is Fidelity Investments. This year, Fidelity notched 78 awards across nine different investment categories, ranging from U.S. diversified stock funds to U.S. taxable bond funds. That number of awards was two times greater than the closest fund family.
