Holidaymakers can mark the end of traffic light travel restrictions in time for an October half-term break.
Holiday bookings have surged by 200 per cent compared with August since the rules change at the last Government travel review, according to travel agents.
But there are still some fantastic bargains to be had.
Pre-departure tests will no longer be required for many destinations and it is hoped costly PCR checks will have been replaced by less expensive lateral flow tests in many parts of the UK.
