'Best for me' - Forward reveals how injury woes at Nottingham Forest keep him motivated

Former Nottingham Forest forward Hillal Soudani has explained how the injury he sustained during his time with the Reds is helping his career.

The 32-year-old spent one season at the City Ground, after joining the club on a permanent deal from Dinamo Zagreb in 2018.

But after a year which was plagued by a long-term ligament injury, Soudani departed Trentside last summer to sign for Olympiacos.

He left the Reds with eight appearances to his name, during which time he scored two goals.

Now at Olympiacos, Soudani has once again suffered a ligament injury, and faces another long spell on the sidelines after having an operation last month.

But the former Reds says that his the injury he suffered during his time at the City Ground will help with his mindset going forward.

“With the injury I sustained in Nottingham Forest, everything went away, the ligaments, the meniscus,” Soudani told Sportsky Novosti, in a translated interview.

He added: “This time, the ligament suffered, not as bad as it was then.

“And something else is important throughout the story. Now I know how to behave during such an injury, what to do, how recovery will go.

“While this experience is not good, considering it is an injury, it is still an experience.

“Now I know how to respond, which is best for me, I'm really looking forward to returning to the field.”
