Bernd Leno provides injury update as he sends message to Arsenal fans

Arsenal goalkeeper Bernd Leno has sent a message to fans as he continues his return from a season-ending injury suffered after the Premier League's resumption.

There were fears that the Germany goalkeeper had suffered a serious knee injury after colliding with Brighton striker Neal Maupay during the Gunners' defeat at the AMEX Stadium.

However, he avoided serious knee ligament damage and his return to training would be a matter of weeks rather than months, a significant boost.

Leno is still sidelined for the remainder of the season though, missing the final Premier League clash against Watford and the FA Cup final against Chelsea next weekend.

He has now returned to training though and posted a video on social media of him in a session, catching numerous balls, charging off his line and making a diving save.

Alongside the video, he posted: "I've really missed flying" alongside a heart-eyed emoji, a football emoji and a flexing muscle emoji.

Leno is expected to be available when the 2020/21 season begins, with the Premier League confirming this week that the start date for the new season is September 12.
