Bernardo Silva has made thoughts on Liverpool and Man Utd clear as he eyes Man City exit

Bernardo Silva is eyeing a way out of Manchester City this summer amid frustrations of a lack of playing time.

The Portuguese midfielder has been a key player for Pep Guardiola's side since moving from Monaco in 2017.

Silva has won ten trophies with the Citizens during his four-year stay and has delivered in big moments for the team.

But a latest report from the Athletic has claimed the 26-year-old would like to leave the club this summer and seek a new challenge.

His performances on the pitch in the 2020/21 season do not represent a player wanting out, but Silva nearly moved to Barcelona last summer only for the deal to fall through.

Despite this not taking place, he found his best form for City, winning the Premier League and reaching the Champions League final.

Atletico Madrid are believed to be one side that have joined the race to secure the services of Silva, with Diego Simeone's side looking to strengthen on the back of their La Liga title success.

A move to a Premier League side appears unlikely for the Portugal international at this stage, particularly if his past comments are anything to go by.

Silva poked fun at rivals Manchester United in an interview last year, during which he discussed his relationship with Bruno Fernandes.

Fernandes came out on top in his first Manchester derby in March 2020, though the City star was quick to remind the former Sporting Lisbon midfielder that the Red Devils have a lot of catching up to do in another department.

He told 5 Para a Meia-Noite show on Portuguese TV: "I spoke to [Fernandes] about three days ago. He's winning 1-0 in the games between us here, but he still has to eat a lot of soup to reach the titles."

Silva was also involved in a bizarre exchange with Liverpool supporters on Twitter after the Sky Blues were knocked out of the 2019/20 Champions League quarter-final by Lyon.

Liverpool supporters were quick to remind City fans of their failure in Europe's elite competition, but the talenteed midfielder did not see the funny side to rival fans commenting on his Twitter posts.

He tweeted: "To all Liverpool fans that have nothing else to do than to come to a Man City player account, I'm also sorry for you but for the wrong reasons...pathetic... go celebrate your titles, or try to find a partner, drink a beer with a friend, read a book...so many options!"
