Bengals WR Tyler Boyd reveals gruesome details of finger injury

It sounds like Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tyler Boyd won’t miss any more time despite the finger injury that cost him a chunk of the team’s Week 14 game.

A finger injury might not sound like that big of a deal, even for a wide receiver. The team only talked about it like a dislocation, too.

But asked about it this week, Boyd revealed that the term didn’t exactly do things justice. Per the star slot receiver himself, he could actually see bone after the injury.

“I kind of went in shock,” Boyd said, according to ESPN’s Ben Baby. “I never really had any major injuries, thank god, let alone being able to see a bone. So, it kind of threw me off. “But at the same time, my adrenaline was pumping. So, it wasn’t really hurting or fazing me. The only thing I was worried about was getting back out there to help my guys.”

The injury cost Boyd a big chunk of the team’s win over the Cleveland Browns. While he wanted to push through and play with Tee Higgins already out, Boyd says he put trust in the other guys in the room — trust that paid off as guys like Trenton Irwin again made big plays.

That makes it all the more impressive that he practiced in the week leading up to the game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and sounded good to go.

It’s also a reminder that things aren’t always exactly what they seem in the NFL.
