Bengals release troubled LB Vontaze Burfict

It seems as if the Pittsburgh Steelers might finally be rid of linebacker Vontaze Burfict. ESPN reporter Dianna Russini is reporting the Cincinnati Bengals are planning to release the seven-year veteran.

Burfict has been a constant thorn in the Steelers side since coming into the league. He has gone out of his way on more than one occasion to try to injury Pittsburgh players, succeeding on more than one occasion.

The shame of Burfict’s time in Cincinnati was there was a time when Burfict was a really good player. But his over-the-line style and the injuries he gave himself because of it piled up on him. His level of play took a nosedive in 2018 and without his ability to make plays, his antics weren’t worth it.

It will be interesting to see where Burfict lands. At 28 years old he still has good football in him if he can get healthy and learn to play within the rules. And before anyone asks, there is no way the Steelers will sign him.
