Bengals’ D.J. Reader carted off vs. Chargers

Cincinnati Bengals defensive tackle D.J. Reader suffered an injury during Sunday’s second half against the Los Angeles Chargers and needed a cart to leave the field.

Reader went down in the third quarter and immediately called for a cart, which the team didn’t hesitate to bring out.

It appeared to be a knee injury for Reader, though there wasn’t an emotional sendoff from teammates as he left the field.

Reader was one of the team’s biggest signings in free agency this offseason and was looking at a bigger role than he’s ever had to this point in his career. He was playing at a position already battered with injuries and playing without running mate Geno Atkins against the Chargers.

We’ll have more on the injury as news goes live on the subject.

Update: Reader’s going to potentially be back in the game after the injury scare, with the broadcast reporting he’s merely suffering from cramps.
