Ben Stiller teases that we could have other ‘Severance’ stories but do we need them?

As with every good show, there comes a time when fans ask how we can know more about the characters we’ve come to love. With Severance, it is all about the mysteries that Lumon is hiding and there is maybe a chance we could get more stories.

Director, Ben Stiller, spoke about the series and hinted that there was a possibility for more stories from the world of Severance. While talking to Variety, Stiller hinted that there are already two ideas for spin-off shows from Severance that they have had conversations about. But he also made it clear that these ideas are just that and that they aren’t projects they’re moving forward with. Yet.

“There are two specific ideas — that I won’t tell you — that we’ve talked about internally as possible spin-off ideas,” Stiller told the outlet. And when asked how far along in the process they are, Stiller was honest about them. “They are nascent.”

I’d argue that I do not think we need anything else on Severance. Not because I think it wouldn’t benefit the show but because I like that we don’t know everything. It is better that way. I didn’t even know that there was a fake news story that went along with the show that gave fans important information about what Lumon was doing with the severed employees.

But then again, some of the best shows on television ended up being spin-offs from other shows. So it isn’t necessarily a bad thing. My only fear with a show like Severance is that man thought it couldn’t top season 1 and so when it did, fans started to put more expectations on the show. So if a spin-off happened, that same issue would arise and I don’t want my beautiful science fiction show to be tainted by the court of public opinion just yet.
