Ben Skowronek only played a handful of snaps in his preseason debut on Saturday night against the Chargers before he suffered a devastating injury. The rookie receiver fractured his forearm, an injury that required surgery.
Skowronek underwent the procedure on Monday to repair the issue, though his timetable for return remains unclear. Hopefully it’s a quick recovery, but the timing of this injury could very well land him on injured reserve. If he goes on IR before final roster cuts, he will be forced to miss the entire season.
Skowronek was in good spirits after the surgery, writing on Twitter that it went great and he can’t wait to get back on the field.

Skowronek was projected to be the Rams’ sixth or seventh receiver with a decent chance to make the 53-man roster if he could beat out Trishton Jackson. That will be difficult now, even if he begins the year on PUP, which wouldn’t end his season.
The rookie out of Notre Dame is a good blocker and provides the Rams with a bigger receiver, which made him an intriguing rookie in a group of otherwise smaller wideouts.
