Ben Shephard Halts Live Show to Call Out Crew Chaos as AI Presenter Glitches Again

Ben Shephard brought This Morning to a hilarious halt on Tuesday (May 13) after something unexpected caught his eye mid-broadcast. While the ITV show was rolling along with its usual mix of guests and giveaways, Ben couldn’t resist calling out a cheeky moment on set that left viewers and the crew in stitches.

It all kicked off during a segment with Jeff Brazier, who was walking viewers through the latest competition offering a whopping £105,000 in tax-free cash. As Jeff wrapped things up, having just featured a Glasgow woman who won £30, someone from the crew briefly popped into the frame. And Ben wasn’t letting that slide, reported the Manchester Evening News.

Stopping everything, Ben turned to Jeff and asked: “What was that, Jeff? Was he one of our crew?” Clearly tickled by the question, both Cat Deeley and Jeff burst out laughing while trying to figure out what had just happened.

Jeff quickly clarified the mystery: “Mike was turning something around, attention to detail.” Right on cue, Mike himself stepped in front of the camera to explain: “I was being attentive, I was just making sure the shot was clear.”

Ben didn’t miss the opportunity for a dig, joking: “The shot was really clear other than the producer running in and out of it. It was perfect.”

But the unexpected moments didn’t stop there. Earlier in the show, This Morning tried to introduce viewers to their shiny new AI presenter, Julia, only for the tech to go completely sideways.

After a bumpy start where Julia refused to work at all, Ben and Cat finally got her going. But just as they started asking questions, she glitched again and stopped responding altogether.

“If you were nervous about AI stealing your jobs, don’t worry too much because, unfortunately, Julia glitched again. I think she got tired,” Ben joked, trying to smooth over the awkward moment.

Still, he remained optimistic about the future of AI on the show, adding: “It’s been fascinating as an exercise, us genuinely asking questions and she was able to respond with incredible answers. It’s just going to get better.”

Between producers photobombing and robots on strike, This Morning delivered a dose of chaos — and a lot of laughs — to kick off the day.
