Belinda Bencic rallies past Danielle Collins into Wimbledon third round

NEW DELHI: Swiss tennis star Belinda Bencic fought back from being a set and a break down to eliminate American Danielle Collins from Wimbledon on Thursday.

Bencic secured a hard-fought victory with a scoreline of 3-6, 6-4, 7-6(10-2), earning herself a spot in the third round where she will face Poland's Magda Linette.

Collins, a former Australian Open runner-up, dominated the opening set, swiftly taking control of the match on Court Two. Bencic, the Olympic champion, struggled initially to capitalize on her opportunities and fell behind as Collins broke her serve early in the second set.

Nevertheless, Collins' erratic serving, coupled with Bencic's determination, enabled the Swiss player to level the score at 3-3. Bencic, a two-time champion in Abu Dhabi and Adelaide, elevated her performance and forced a decisive third set.

In a fiercely-contested fifth game, Bencic displayed her tenacity by holding her serve and celebrated with clenched fists and a roar. She maintained her composure during the tense tiebreak, ultimately securing her advancement to the next round.
