The body of a man has been found in a west London lake after a massive search operation.

Emergency services spent seven hours searching at Bedfont Lakes Country Park, in Feltham, after the man in his 20s entered the water about 5pm and didn’t return.

A Scotland Yard spokesman said a search – supported by the National Police Air Service and Marine Policing Unit – was carried out.

“Shortly after midnight on Wednesday the body of a man was recovered from the water,” the spokesman said.

“While the death is being treated as unexpected, at this time it is not being treated as suspicious.

“The man’s family has been informed.”

Hounslow Council confirmed on Tuesday night it had closed the country park while it helped with the search.

It comes the day after a 14-year-old boy was found dead in a north London lake as Londoners sought to cool down during a second heatwave.

Police rushed to North Met Lake, off Cadmore Lane, Cheshunt after reports that a teenager had got into difficulty in the water just before 5pm on Monday.
