Bebe Rexha Makes Heartbreaking Confession While Addressing Met Gala Body Shaming Comments

Singer Bebe Rexha has shared a heartbreaking confession while clapping back at controversial artist Azealia Banks for her body-shaming Met Gala comments.

Earlier this week, the biggest names in entertainment descended upon New York for the annual Met Gala. One of the celebs to grace the iconic steps of the city’s Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute was Bebe Rexha, who is responsible for some of the most iconic bangers out there, like “In The Name Of Love” and “Hey Mama”.

But amongst the fashion festivities, controversial artist Azealia Banks took to X (formerly Twitter) to share her critiques of the Met Gala.

From Chappel Roan to FKA Twigs — no one was safe from Banks’ scathing, problematic commentary.

Unfortunately, one of those famous folks in the artist’s firing line was Rexha.

“Sis gives me — hormonal birth control implant or something,” the “212” rapper began.

“It’s giving Implanon/NuvaRing she needs removed or depo shot that needs to stop happening (I’m not even tryna play her).”

Shortly after the event, Rexha clapped back at the body-shaming comments in a now-deleted X post. While responding indirectly to Banks, the singer also made a heartbreaking confession, revealing that she suffered a miscarriage.

“I’m so tired of people commenting on my weight,” Rexha began in the now-deleted post which has since been reshared by Pop Crave.

“I have PCOS and struggle with infertility. I got pregnant, and it didn’t work out, and I’ve been carrying that pain in silence. I never owned anyone that truth, but maybe now you’ll think twice before commenting on any anyone’s [sic] body.”

Shortly after sharing the devastating news, Rexha went on to address Banks head-on, telling the artist to “jump on some type of therapy”.

“And you might wanna jump on some type of therapy, sis, lexapro worked great for me. Something that helps with the deep-rooted sadness and chaos you keep projecting,” Rexha penned, quote-tweeting Banks’ post.

“Healing looks good on everyone. Try it.”

While many fans replied to Rexha’s post with well wishes and apologies, Banks doubled down on her criticisms, telling one fan that she will not be apologising to her fellow artist for her comments.

If there’s anything I know about watching Azealia Banks online, it’s that there’s no point in calling her out. After all, her list of feuds — which includes the country of Australia (which was lowkey valid) — is quite bloody long.

That being said, my heart absolutely goes out to Rexha. Year after year, month after month, day after day, women in the limelight are forced to make excuses for their bodies when it’s not needed at all.

God forbid we just exist!!!!!

Wishing Rexha all the peace and healing in the world.
