Beautiful art by Ringsend kids ordered to be removed despite bringing delight to community

Children in a Dublin 4 community brought colour and spirit to their home recently with a creative idea.

Some of the homes in the Poolbeg Quays area of Ringsend were brightened up with colourful chalk and decorative tyres and cones in recent weeks.

But despite the joy it brings to the community, the residents of the homes with the colourful art have been asked to remove the beautiful designs by the management company of the complex.

Marian Ryan shared images of the gorgeous creations and the letter received after the unique idea was allegedly reported.

The letter reads: "We are requesting that you clean the chalk off the walls around your houses and remove the traffic bollards and tyres from the space around the bike area giving free and open access for all.

"It constitutes a health and safety hazard for everyone and could impact on our public liability insurance if an incident occurs."

Many people have come out in support of the designs by the children, which have transformed an area in front of the homes that was not used by anyone.

One nearby resident said: "Every time I pass I look at it, it's fab."

While another added: "The kids are doing it for frontline workers, plus it looks beautiful trying to make the place look clean and nice."

And another supporter said: "Seriously have people nothing else to do but complain about something - so bright and colorful it’s lovely and in these trying times it cheers people up."
